SECOND ANNUAL WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS FOR YOUTH IN PWC

The 66 Express Outside the Beltway Completes Another Winter Clothing Drive With Nonprofit Boxes of Basics

Manassas, Va. January 22, 2024– Over 100 articles of warm children’s clothes were collected during the second annual Winter Clothing Drive held by the 66 Express Outside the Beltway, benefiting Manassas-based nonprofit partner Boxes of Basics.

The drive, which was held Dec. 11 through Jan. 3, solicited donations from the public and the roadway’s employees, who generously donated gently used child-sized coats and jackets to the cause. Boxes of Basics will provide the donated garments, along with personal hygiene products, books, and personalized notes of support, to help empower disadvantaged youngsters throughout Prince William County.

“When a child goes to school in a new warm coat, it gives them a tremendous feeling of confidence which benefits them academically and socially,” said Sarah Tyndall, founder and executive director of Boxes of Basics. “We thank the 66 Express for stepping up again and holding another fantastic Winter Clothing Drive, so that the kids of Prince William County can hold their heads up high.”

The 66 Express Outside the Beltway held its first Winter Clothing Drive for Boxes of Basics in February 2023, bringing in nearly 150 articles of clothes for kids.

“We enjoy strong partnerships with many local nonprofits and are pleased to be able to directly support organizations that impact those with the greatest need” said Nancy H. Smith, Director of Corporate Affairs for I-66 Express Mobility Partners, operators of the 66 Express Outside the Beltway. The 66 Express was proud to be one of Boxes of Basics first ever corporate Silver Sponsor in 2023.

“We’re delighted that our Winter Clothing Drives have been so successful, and we thank our customers and employees for their generous contributions,” Smith continued. “We look forward to continuing our work with Boxes of Basics to make a positive impact on the lives of kids here in Prince William County.”
