I-66 EMP Makes Contributions to Educate Fairfax in 2023

Donations Totaling $25,000 Will Support STEM Education and Provide Supplies for Low-Income Families

Manassas, VA – Monday, October 23, 2023 –Strengthening an already strong, established partnership, I-66 Express Mobility Partners (I-66 EMP), builder and operator of the 66 Express Outside the Beltway, has made multiple donations in 2023 totaling $25,000 to Educate Fairfax, the educational foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools.

During 2023, I-66 EMP granted monetary contributions to Educate Fairfax’s Innovators Fund, a program which augments science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, aligning with the workforce needs of the local business community. These funds will provide equipment, supplies, STEM programming, and innovation labs in high schools around the County.

In addition, the roadway operator made a donation of $5,000 to Educate Fairfax’s Kids In Need Fund, which provides essential school supplies for students from low-income households or other special circumstances such as refugee status.

“We’re delighted to accept these 2023 contributions from our partners at I-66 EMP,” said Educate Fairfax executive director Elizabeth Murphy. “By creating STEM education opportunities in Fairfax County and supporting FCPS students with basic needs, the impact of this donation will be felt by students across the County.”

The 66 Express facility opened to traffic in late 2022, but the relationship between I-66 EMP and Educate Fairfax goes back to 2019. Over the years EMP contributed $67,500 to the foundation’s Access For All Fund, which supported students in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, and provided $15,000 grants to two Vienna elementary schools for STEM-related equipment and resources.

“Supporting education throughout Northern Virginia has always been core to our corporate mission,” said Nancy H. Smith, corporate affairs director for I-66 EMP. “As an engineering company, we’re especially motivated to support STEM education, which is so crucial to our region’s and our nation’s economic future. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Educate Fairfax for many years to come.”
