I-66 EMP AMONG SPONSORS AT BOXES OF BASICS’ FUNDRAISING GALA ‘DUELING KEYS FOR A CAUSE’

A Longtime Partner of the 66 Express’ Operator, the Manassas-Based Non-Profit Provides Clothing and More to Local Kids in Need

Manassas, Va. March 6, 2024 – I-66 Express Mobility Partners (I-66 EMP), operators of the 66 Express Outside the Beltway, is a sponsor of local non-profit Boxes of Basics’ annual fundraising gala, ‘Dueling Keys for a Cause,’ on Friday, March 8, at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville.

The ‘Friend of the Cause’ sponsorship strengthens I-66 EMP’s already strong relationship with Boxes of Basics.

In 2023, the roadway operator was a Silver Sponsor of the non-profit, providing $5,000 to further Boxes of Basics’ mission. I-66 EMP is renewing that sponsorship for 2024.

In addition, I-66 EMP has conducted winter clothing drives to benefit Boxes of Basics since commencing full operations in November 2022. The drives in 2022 and 2023 amassed approximately 250 articles of warm clothes for local schoolchildren who find themselves in underprivileged situations.

“We’re delighted that I-66 EMP has chosen to be a sponsor of ‘Dueling Keys for a Cause,’” said Sarah Tyndall, founder and executive director of Boxes of Basics. “The event shines a spotlight on our community partners who make it all possible, and I-66 EMP has been a great long-term partner in our mission to improve the lives of Prince William County’s kids.”

Featuring a silent auction, three-course dinner, and musical performances including a dueling pianos show, the sold-out fundraising gala will celebrate Boxes of Basics’ positive impact on the Prince William County community as a not-for-profit distributor of clothes for disadvantaged children. In addition to sponsorships, the organization depends on donations of clothing, school supplies, personal hygiene products, and funds from the local community, including the corporate community.

“It’s an easy decision for us to continue our support of Boxes of Basics,” said Nancy H. Smith, Director of Corporate Affairs for I-66 Express Mobility Partners, operators of the 66 Express Outside the Beltway. “Not only does the organization perfectly match our mission to improve the lives of everyone who lives or works near the I-66 corridor, the work Boxes of Basics does for the community is absolutely vital. We look forward to this gala and to another year helping Boxes of Basics make a difference for the kids of Prince William County.”
