I-66 EMP Becomes A Boxes of Basics Silver Sponsor For 2023
66 Express Operator Strengthens Partnership With Prince William Nonprofit Empowering Kids
Manassas, VA – Monday, May 22, 2023 –Bolstering a relationship begun during the company’s clothing drive last winter, I-66 Express Mobility Partners (EMP) presented a check of $5000.00 to Prince William-based Boxes of Basics at a ceremony this morning at the not-for-profit organization’s offices in Manassas.
The donation merits EMP the status of Silver Sponsor for 2023 and furthers Boxes of Basics’ mission of providing essentials – including clothing, school supplies, and personal hygiene items – to under-served children across Prince William County.
In February, EMP collected some 150 articles of warm clothes in a Winter Clothing Drive held for Boxes of Basics, beginning the relationship between the two Manassas-based entities. Both I-66 EMP and Boxes of Basics are members of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.
“We are thrilled to welcome I-66 Express Mobility Partners as our Silver Sponsor. Their sponsorship will help provide a quality seasonal wardrobe to more than 1,000 children in Prince William, Manassas, and Manassas Park,” said Sarah Tyndall, founder and executive director of Boxes of Basics. “From school clothing and pajamas to a warm winter coat, new shoes, socks and underwear, these children will be provided with everything they need for the season. Boxes of Basics can continue to help more children every year because of community support, and our friends at I-66 Express Mobility Partners continue to show their commitment by making an investment in helping local children.”
I-66 EMP, a consortium of global infrastructure companies Cintra, Meridiam, and APG, designed, built, operates and maintains the transformative 22.5-mile 66 Express Outside the Beltway toll-lane facility, which opened ahead of schedule on Nov. 22, 2022. Providing an enhanced quality of life for Northern Virginia communities from Gainesville to the Beltway is inherent in EMP’s corporate mission.
“We are extremely pleased to solidify our partnership with Boxes of Basics as a Silver Sponsor for 2023,” said Luis Vazquez, CEO of I-66 EMP. “Our company shares Boxes of Basics’ mission to make a positive impact on the lives of families in the Prince William area. What better way to do that than helping kids get the basics they need?”
EMP’s other community partnerships include Food For Others, Willing Warriors, Fairfax County Park Foundation, and SPARK, the educational foundation for Prince William County Public Schools.
“Partnering with Boxes of Basics is a natural fit for us,” added Nancy H. Smith, Director of Corporate Affairs for I-66 EMP. “We look forward to many more years as a strong supporter of their mission to empower kids here in Prince William.”
