I-66 EMP Becomes a 2024 Annual Partner with Educate Fairfax

66 Express Outside the Beltway Operator Makes $15,000 Donation To Support Fairfax County Public Schools

Fairfax, Va. May 21, 2024– With its recent contribution of $15,000, I-66 Express Mobility Partners (I-66 EMP) became a 2024 Annual Partner with Educate Fairfax, the not-for-profit educational foundation serving Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

I-66 EMP’s contribution will help support Educate Fairfax’s efforts to foster workforce readiness and career development, and to offer enhanced opportunities for FCPS students to study topics in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM).

“It’s wonderful to see local companies like I-66 Express Mobility Partners step up in support of local students across Fairfax County,” said Dr. Lynette Henry, executive director for Educate Fairfax. “Our 2024 partnership with EMP is a tremendous boon for the students we serve and the communities in which they live. We look forward to continuing this productive partnership with I-66 EMP.”

The annual partnership strengthens the already strong ties between Educate Fairfax and I-66 EMP, the builder and operator of the 66 Express Outside the Beltway that runs through Fairfax County to I-495. In April of this year, I-66 EMP contributed funds to provide 10 student needs-based scholarships to the FCPS Tech Adventure Camp this summer. During 2023, the roadway operators made a generous donation that went towards supporting the Innovators Fund, a program which augments science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, as well as the Kids In Need Fund, which provides essential school supplies for students from low-income households.

Since the relationship between I-66 EMP and Educate Fairfax began in 2019, three years before the 66 Express Outside the Beltway opened to the public, the transportation infrastructure consortium has contributed a total of $140,250 to FCPS’s not-for-profit foundation, helping fund a variety of programs and initiatives in support of public education throughout Fairfax County. That includes contributions to assist FCPS students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It may be a cliché, but children really are our future, so we’re highly motivated to make a positive investment in the schools that prepare them for the future,” said Nancy H. Smith, I-66 EMP’s director of corporate affairs. “We’re delighted to begin this 2024 Annual Partnership with Educate Fairfax and look forward to furthering our relationship for the benefit of FCPS students.”
